Pedagogies of Connection
The educators of South Australia hosted ACTA's Inaugural International Conference in Alice Springs from July 10 to July 12, 2008. This was preceded by a TESOL International funded symposium on July 9, 2008, entitled Keeping Languages Alive which considered how to keep community and Indigenous languages alive.
Keynote speakers at the conference included: Professor Marcia Langton, University of Melbourne; Professor Vaidehi Ramanathan, University of California; Professor Beverley Derewianka, University of Wollongong; Dr Shelley Wong, George Mason University; and Dr Sinfree Makoni, Pennsylvania State University.
Learners from Diverse Cultures: Advancing Australia's Potential
The 2002 ACTA and ESL Educators Conference was held at Glenelg, South Australia from 20-22 January 2002.
The Conference provided a wonderful blend of education, culture, networking, good food and wine, and superb South Australian hospitality. An exciting and diverse Conference program was developed featuring an array of well known Australian presenters who have contributed to the development and profile of ESL and others who have made their mark in defining and supporting multicultural diversity in Australia.
