About ACTA
ACTA - the national coordinating body for
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages
Our Objectives:
- Represent and support the interests of teachers of English to speakers of other languages and dialects
- Ensure access to English language instruction for speakers of other languages and dialects
- Encourage implementation and delivery of quality professional programs at all levels
- Promote study, research and development of TESOL at state, national and international levels
Membership of ACTA comes automatically through membership of one of its constituent associations, as listed below.
ACTA is made up of councillors from each state association. The number of councillors each state has depends on the number of members in that state association. The councillors themselves are chosen from the professional association of each state by the councillors. Each councillor is consulted on their state's perspective when ACTA constructs documents, engages in advocacy or publishes position statements. To see a list of ACTA's councillors (and a point of contact for each one) please go to the 'contact us' page.
If you are interested in joining the ACTA council, your first step is to join your state professional association. Follow links for Websites of these constituents. Any queries regarding ACTA and its activities should be directed towards the Executive Officer at actaexec@yahoo.com.au
