Letter to Philip Ruddock
26 June 2000
Hon. Philip Ruddock MP
Minister for Immigration
Parliament House
CANBERRA ACT 2600
Dear Minister
I have recently received representations from Dr Penny McKay, President of the Australian Council of TESOL Associations regarding the recent decision to merge the Advanced English for Migrants Program and the Literacy and Numeracy Strategy program.
I have enclosed a copy of that letter for your information.
Dr McKay is concerned that the special needs of clients of AEMP will not be adequately addressed when they are transferred into the Literacy and Numeracy Strategy programs, which have a very different focus to cater for a different client base.
Minister, I would appreciate if you would give the attached
correspondence
your careful consideration and respond to Dr McKay's concerns
directly.
Yours sincerely
CON SCIACCA MP
