ACTA Advocacy Page

There are many issues that greatly concern TESOL practioners today, be they political, social or pedagogical. Advocacy in TESOL is a central ACTA objective. Our ACTA Advocacy Page pages thus aim to play a pivotal role in outlining these burning issues in TESOL and the various ways you can engage and deal with them.

Issues discussed here are both Federal and State matters.  Advocacy for the needs of ESL learners and teachers in the Federal arena is a matter of agreement across the State Associations, and usually (but not always) takes place through the ACTA Council.

State advocacy issues will in some cases be addressed differently according to the relationships between the State ESL associations and its State government and education systems.

ACTA presents the matters here for information sharing across State associations.  Members are encouraged to contact their State association for details of  advocacy actions planned and underway in their particular State.
