The passing of Dr Marika
ACTA remembers Dr Marika
ACTA regrets to announce that Australia has lost one of its leading
indigenous lights with the passing of Dr Marika - a pre-eminent
bilingual educator, researcher and leader.
She was to have been a keynote speaker at the Symposium being held
in conjunction with the Alice Springs Conference. It is ACTA's
intention to honour Dr Marika and celebrate her contributions to
the field at the conference in July.
ACTA wishes to extend its condolences to the family and friends of
Dr Marika at this sad time. Attached
is a message of condolence sent by TESOL International ACTA.
Please note, should you be sharing this news with your own member
associations that in accordance with indigenous cultural traditions
the first names of those who have passed on are not used.
